Even More Masks

I am very pleased with the quality of the Grade 6 paper mache masks this year. They took a while but my

belief is that”Quality work takes time”.Congratulations to our students- the hard work paid off.

Now we’re making  individual mosaics and working on a group  mosaic  for the “Year of the Ox.”

Well Done Nathan

I was thrilled to have one of our Grade 5PL students, Nathan,  bring in this piece of wood burning which he did in his grandfather’s workshop

during the weekend a few weeks ago.

Fantastic artwork Nathan and congratulations to Nathan’s grandfather for providing the wood and inspiring  the work.IMG_5105

The Art of Photography – Terra Australis

These are just a few of our favourite photos from our around  Australia trip earlier this year.
They were all taken in the picturesque Northern Territory.
The “Reflections”photo and the Waterlilies were taken on the Yellow Waters cruise at Kakadu.

Any of our Taylors Lakes Primary students who may be visiting the blog are welcome to try drawing the crocodile or the lizard and bring it to their next Art Class.
The other two would make great topics for a watercolour painting.

We are having a two week Term  break beginning  on Monday 21st September.
Happy Holidays.

This week our students were fortunate to have a  visit by children’s author and illustrator David Miller.

This detailed paper sculpture is from his illustration for Mark Austin’s book Ringle Tingle Tiger.

David’s skills with paper sculpture are legendary and he kindly allowed me to photograph some of the detail of his work to post on our blog.

Inspiration for Grade 6 Masks

My Grade 6 students are completing their masks during this week and next, with next week being the last week of our third Term here in Victoria, Australia.

I am posting two photographs from two years ago to give some extra inspiration.

This  year’s Grade 6 students are amongst the most focused and creative students we have had in the 20 years of the school’s history so we look forward to seeing their completed masks..

Reading Corner

Our  attractive Reading Corner is very popular with our students who have completed their art work and have washed their hands.

The table in the foreground has a display of wooden items for students to explore.
