It’s hard to believe that the past year has slipped by so quickly and we now have a new selection of Paper Mache masks from our Grade 6 students.
Here are a few to start with.

These are just a few of our favourite photos from our around Australia trip earlier this year.
They were all taken in the picturesque Northern Territory.
The “Reflections”photo and the Waterlilies were taken on the Yellow Waters cruise at Kakadu.
Any of our Taylors Lakes Primary students who may be visiting the blog are welcome to try drawing the crocodile or the lizard and bring it to their next Art Class.
The other two would make great topics for a watercolour painting.
We are having a two week Term break beginning on Monday 21st September.
Happy Holidays.

This week our students were fortunate to have a visit by children’s author and illustrator David Miller.
This detailed paper sculpture is from his illustration for Mark Austin’s book Ringle Tingle Tiger.
David’s skills with paper sculpture are legendary and he kindly allowed me to photograph some of the detail of his work to post on our blog.

My Grade 6 students are completing their masks during this week and next, with next week being the last week of our third Term here in Victoria, Australia.
I am posting two photographs from two years ago to give some extra inspiration.
This year’s Grade 6 students are amongst the most focused and creative students we have had in the 20 years of the school’s history so we look forward to seeing their completed masks..

Our attractive Reading Corner is very popular with our students who have completed their art work and have washed their hands.
The table in the foreground has a display of wooden items for students to explore.

Our Grade Three students constructed a character from our Australian Colonial days. They used a cardboard cone as the body and scrunched newspaper, wrapped in more paper as the head. Layers of white paper and tissue paper gave the skin colour and wool tops, sticker eyes and fabrics completed the person. Simple dioramas were made by folding and cutting A3 paper and adding collage to complete the scene.

On Tuesday 21st July we welcomed almost 30 local teachers to a “Book Week ” Workshop run in our Art Room by Art supplier and Professional development provider “Zart” of Box Hill, Melbourne. Presenter Amy Green of Romsey, pictured above with her adorable new son, read some of the delightful shortlisted books for the Australian Book Council Awards and then explained the steps in making some Art works to complement them. It was a very enjoyable and productive evening.
